What's in Your McDonald's Fries?

*Disclaimer: I am used to spoiling food in the lab, so if seeing your dear fast foods rotting puts you to tears, do NOT watch!*

This guy is Morgan Spurlock, the person who made the documentary "Super Size Me". That movie about him going on a McDonald's diet for 30 days.

So in this video, he puts McDonald's up to the test again (I don't know why he's so against McDs, why not give them a break and attack KFC, Pizza Hut or Burger King too ;) ). This time, he buys some normal items from our good ol' neighbourhood McDs: Big Mac, Chicken McGrill, Fillet O Fish, and of course those tasty McD fries. Also, he bought a burger from a shop down the street and some homemade fries.

So he dumps everything in individual jars and lets them be, and observed the changes after 2 weeks until 10 weeks.

The results? (Well it's much funner to see for yourself in the video right? But the giz:)
  • 2 Weeks: Homemade burger and fries already rotting. McDonald's stuff, not really.
  • 10 Weeks: All burgers had to be thrown away due to the stench. McDonald's french fries still as good as new!!
So what ARE in those McDonald's, or in our fast food in general?? I was sort of amazed that the fries lasted 10 weeks (or could be more), but still... Imagine the amount of STUFF they'd put in those!!?? What made them last so long without degrading?
