While we're at the coffee and caffeine subject, let's learn our Coffee ABCs... Next time you know what all those coffee jargon in Starbuck's mean. ;)
Drinks and foods with caffeine have become an iconic touchstone of pop culture. Caffeine has become synonymous with our everyday world. And when I mention CAFFEINE, bear in mind it is not *just* about coffee. Other food and drink products with caffeine in them include: carbonated beverages, energy drinks, teas, dairy beverages, alcoholic beverages, chocolate, candies, cookies, cereals, and many more! A more extensive list of all foods with caffeine can be seen at here at NutritionData.
The health benefits of caffeine are plentiful and well-documented in numerous studies in recent years. Coffee and tea, in particular, have emerged as good health food sources that can lower the risk of diabetes, heart disease, Parkinson's disease, colon cancer, and cirrhosis of the liver, as well as lift your mood, treat headaches and even lower risk of cavities. Caffeine also enhances athleticism, endurance and performance, according to health care experts.
On another note, a negative effect of caffeine is that small amounts of caffeine taken daily, for example a cup of coffee a day, can create physical dependence or addiction. Also, people with panic disorder or generalized anxiety disorder are much more prone to reacting badly from increased heart rate. Caffeine, even in small doses, can create panic attacks and interfere with medications taken to calm the system. Caffeine does reduce dopamine, a chemical produced by the brain that affects the brain’s pleasure centers. This can create more depression and anxiety.
HealthSaver conducted the annual market research called "Caffeinated Cities Survey 2008" to determine the caffeine consumption habits and attitudes of consumers across the US, and to learn more about cultural views and health benefits of this caffeine. The survey considered numerous caffeine sources, including coffee, tea, sodas, energy drinks, chocolate, pain relievers and caffeine pills. Meanwhile, here's the market research findings on the Most Caffeinated Cities in America:

This caffeine snack is branded as "the lovechild of caffeine + chip." Engobi (Energy Go Bites), is a corn-based chip is claiming it has 70% more caffeine than energy drinks. Woah, isn't that a little *too* much alertness in a packet? It's 220 calories per packet though, so maybe the point is to get us up and moving to burn off the energy from eating it, ah the irony!
What's this... Coffee...? Or a late night salt-craving snack...? How about both combined?
Wow, I'm multi-tasking mom, 2 in 1! And it keeps me awake for my last minute studying too!
Meanwhile, this piece of jewel is the newly released Frito-Lay snack in Japan. The variant shown above is Caramel Macchiato flavoured caffeine snack. One packet of corn snack contains about 150 mg of caffeine, which is the the equivalent of about two cups of coffee. The other flavour variant is Green Tea Latte. I shall say perfecto! Anyone from Japan can mail me this pleeeease....?? :)
But remember guys, consume caffeine in moderation!
Thanks to Inventor Spot for letting me know about this! ;)
